Blaze Destroys Car On Busy Parkway In Northern Westchester
A car became completely engulfed in flames on a busy parkway in Northern Westchester. The incident happened on Sunday, March 3 at around 10:15 a.m., when a car fire began on the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway in Hawthorne, according to the Hawthorne Fire Department. Arriving crews found the car overtaken by flames but were quickly able to extinguish them. A tow truck then eventually removed the charred wreckage. The response to the fire took around an hour. No injuries were reported.

A head-on collision in Northern Westchester caused a parkway to briefly close and hospitalized a total of six people, fire officials said. The incident happened on Saturday, Aug. 19 just before 7 p.m., when the Bedford Hills Fire Department responded to the Saw Mill River Parkway northbound at Exit 39 for a reported head-on crash. Authorities in Westchester County are asking the public for help identifying a man whose body was found in a wooden chest on the side of the Saw Mill River Parkway more than four decades ago. The man's body was discovered in Hastings-on-Hudson at 10:15 a.m. on April 23, 1978, by a driver traveling north on the parkway, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.
