Truck Driver Injured After Vehicle Bursts Into Flames At Fairfield County Shopping Complex A service truck driver was injured after his vehicle burst into flames at a busy shopping complex in Fairfield County. It happened just before 9 a.m. Saturday, March 6 at 590 Danbury Road (Route 35) in Ridgefield, just off the intersection to Route 7.  Ridgefield Professional Firefighters and Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze. ID Released For 20-Year-Old Killed In Head-On Route 7 Crash A 20-year-old man has been identified as the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash in Fairfield County on Route 7. The crash took place around 4:02 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 14, on Route 7 near Stonehenge Road in Ridgefield. The two vehicles collided head-on, and both drivers needed to be extricated from their vehicles, said Ridgefield Police Captain Shawn Platt. Jose Miguel Guillen-Hernandez, of Waterbury, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, Platt said. Sonic To Open New Restaurant In Area “Service with the speed of sound” is coming to a new Connecticut location. Sonic is reportedly opening its newest restaurant in the Nutmeg State, with road signs announcing that the popular drive-in is heading to the Route 7 Travel Plaza in New Milford. The restaurant will revive the building on the corner of Route 7 and Still River Road, which has been vacant for years. The area is also expected to include a new Sunoco gas station. In addition to the New Milford location, Connecticut residents can frequent Sonic restaurants in Manchester, Milford, and Wallingford.

Erratic Driving Stop On Route 7 Leads To DUI Charge A 24-year-old local man driving erratically on Route 7 was arrested for driving under the influence. John Stalin Herrera-Mendieta of Danbury was arrested Saturday, Nov. 10 around 7:45 p.m. after Wilton Police spotted him driving his 2011 Ford Fusion erratically northbound on Route 7, said Wilton Police Sgt. Anna Tomello.  During the stop, officers found the Herrera-Mendieta was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said. He was charged with DUI, driving without a license and failure to drive in the proper lane.  Herrera-Mendieta was released on $260 bond.&…

North Salem Motorist With No Insurance Faces Drunk Driving Charge A 46-year-old Northern Westchester man nabbed in Fairfield County for allegedly driving without insurance was also charged with driving drunk. Christopher Evers, of North Salem, was stopped around 1:20 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, on Route 7 in the area of Blue Ridge Road for failing to display registration, said the Wilton Police Department. During the stop, Evers was found to be driving a Toyota minivan with an expired NY temporary plate and no insurance. Northern Westchester Teen Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Crash A Northern Westchester teen motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash when he attempted to drive between two other vehicles on Route 7 in South Norwalk, according to the Connecticut State Police. Nathan Spiro, 19, of Bedford, lost control of his 2017 Yamaha R3 around 8 p.m. Monday while traveling south on Route 7 at a high rate of speed and attempted to drive between two other vehicles when one of the vehicles hit the rear of the motorcycle, sending Spiro into the roadway and the motorcycle into the left median.  The other drivers, who were not injured, included Jorge Rodriguez-Novascat…
