Route 9 Stretch Reopens After Crash Causes Hours-Long Closure In Putnam This story has been updated. A busy stretch of Route 9 has reopened after a crash caused its closure for nearly seven hours on Monday, Feb. 18. The incident occurred when a vehicle overturned after it crashed into a utility pole around 6:30 a.m. in Putnam County. The closure was between Snake Hill Road and Route 301 in Philipstown.  The roadway reopened just before 1:30 p.m.

Putnam Woman Dies In Fire A 52-year-old Philipstown woman died in an overnight fire at the Stepping Stone Group Home, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. The fire, which started around 11:50 p.m. Thursday, at the center at 345 Route 301, sent multiple fire department to the scene, said Putnam County Sheriff's Capt. Lisa Ortolano.  Arriving units discovered an active fire in a bedroom on the second floor of the residence.
