Orange County resident Alexis Lewis, 20, of Chester, was killed along with her boyfriend, Holmes B. Shindon, 21, of Montgomery, during a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, Nov. 16, on Route 208 in the town of Hamptonburgh. Video: Woman Escapes Injury After Flames Explode From Car In Area Things got dangerous for a driver who received a shock when her car suddenly burst in flames in Orange County. The woman driving on Clove Road just off of Route 208 in South Blooming Grove told officials that she smelled smoke shortly after making the turn onto the roadway shortly after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Her Toyota Camry then proceeded to stall out and flames burst through the hood of the car. The woman was able to escape the blaze unscathed, and firefighters were called to the scene. Route 208 Closure Expected To Last Until Early November A busy Orange County roadway will be closed for more than a week as crews perform construction activities in the area. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that beginning at 6 a.m. this week, Route 208 will be closed between Clove Road and JMD Drive in Blooming Grove. The closure is expected to last until 7 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2.  Single lane closures with alternating traffic are expected to occur daily between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Friday, Nov. 2 through Wednesday, Nov. 7.
