Man Threatens People With Knife In Area, Police Say A Hudson Valley man has been arrested for allegedly threatening others with a knife and then fighting with police. Dutchess County resident Gary Hricewich, age 33, of Hyde Park, was arrested around 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 24 after police responded to a report of a man threatening people with a knife, said Chief Robert Benson, of the Hyde Park Police. When officers arrived in the area of 241 Crum Elbow Road they found Hricewich was pulled off the side of the roadway and was having an altercation with a jogger, Benson said. Woman Killed When Tree Falls On Car On Route 9 This story has been updated. A woman was killed after a tree fell on her car while she was driving on a stretch of Route 9 (Albany Post Road) in the area. The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. Monday, July 27 in Dutchess County just south of Mills Cross Road in Staatsburg. The woman, a 70-year-old Red Hook resident whose identity is being withheld while next of kin is notified, was traveling northbound at the time.  The tree landed approximately 40 feet off the roadway after falling directly on top of a 2019 Subaru, Town of Hyde Park Police said. Bicyclist Seriously Injured In Route 9G Crash This story has been updated. A bicycle rider hit by a vehicle on Route 9G in Dutchess County remains in serious condition, according to the Hyde Park Police. The crash took place around 3:04 p.m., Thursday, April 25, in the area of 577 Route 9G, said Hyde Park Police Chief Robert Benson. Patrol arrived on the scene and found Lorenzo Calderon 86-year-old male from Staatsburg unconscious.
