These Hudson Valley Counties Have Highest Property Tax Rates In Nation, New Study Says
Homeowners in New York and Connecticut paid some of the highest property taxes in the country last year, according to a brand new report. ATTOM Data Solutions released its 2018 property tax analysis for more than 87 million homes, announcing that single-family homeowners last year paid a total of $304.6 billion, up from $293.4 billion in 2017. The average was $3,498 per home, according to the report, which made for an effective tax rate of 1.16 percent. Carmel Residents To Vote On $25.5M Bond For School Renovations
The Carmel Central School District proposes a $25.5 million bond issue for major renovations including new roofs. The vote is on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. School Superintendent Andy Irvin said the roofs at all five schools are more than 30 years old and need to be replaced. He says there was already one flood at the high school this summer. Town Supervisor Proposes Extending Elections When Trains Aren't Running
Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner suggested on Wednesday that a state law should be passed to extend elections during emergencies that shut down Metro-North commuter trains. "On Tuesday, May 15th there was a very important election around the county for School Boards and school budgets. . . .
