A 20-year-old man was charged with trespassing after police said he entered a closed Hudson Valley animal shelter to retrieve his dog.
In Rockland County, an employee at Hi-Tor Animal Care Center Inc. in Pomona discovered on Saturday, Sept. 17, that one of the dogs that was lodged at the shelter was missing, according to the Rockland County Sheriff's Office
The dog was lodged at the shelter on Friday, Sept. 16, after the animal was found wandering unattended in Ramapo, authorities said.

A 32-year-old area woman who died in a single-vehicle crash in Maryland was Miss Pakistan World in 2012.
Rockland County resident Zanib Naveed, of Pomona, was killed around 11:40 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 1, in Prince George's County on Route 1, said the Maryland State Police.
According to police, Naveed was driving a 2018 Mercedes CL2 eastbound on the Inter-County Connector, when she went around a curve, hit a curb and overturned into oncoming traffic, state police said.
Naveed, the only person in the vehicle, was ejected into the roadway, state police said.

Youth Gymnastics Coach Sentenced As Victims Speak During Hearing
A former gymnastics coach has been sentenced to four years in prison for sexually abusing several students for years.
Joseph Lewin, 68, of Port Chester, was sentenced on Monday, Sept. 9, after facing his victims during the sentencing at the Rockland County courthouse in New City.
In addition to the four years, Lewin will serve five years post-release supervision, he will have to register as a sexual offender upon release and stay away from his victims, said the Rockland County District Attorney's Office.

Man, Woman Struck By Vehicle In Area
A man and a woman suffered injuries after they were struck by the same vehicle on Saturday afternoon in Rockland CountyThe incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. when the man, 73, and woman, 72, were walking on Tuck Road in Pomona.
The woman suffered a minor laceration to her head, and the man suffered an elbow injury, Ramapo Police said.
