Ex-HS All-County Football, Basketball Standout Who Lived In Brewster Dies George Taranto, a Connecticut resident and former high school sports standout in Westchester County, has died at the age of 77. According to his obituary, Taranto, of Danbury, was a graduate of Ardsley High School and was all-county in football and basketball. He served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1965. Taranto worked as a buyer for Bayer Aspirin in Tarrytown for more than 35 years.  He also loved to hunt, fish and golf. 18-Year-Old Woman, 21-Year-Old Man Killed In I-84 Crash Two people were killed and another seriously injured in a single-vehicle double fatal crash on I-84. The single-vehicle crash took place around 4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 9, in the Town of Middlebury, killing two a teenage woman and young man and seriously injuring another victim from Danbury, said the Connecticut State Police. According to state police, the crash occurred when a Chevy Cobalt was seen traveling at a high rate of speed prior to losing control just before Exit 17, in the Town of Middlebury. Former Corrections Officer Sentenced For Sexually Abusing Danbury Inmate A former correctional officer in Fairfield County will spend time behind bars after being sentenced for sexually abusing an inmate. Carlos Sanchez, formerly of Middlebury, was sentenced in Bridgeport district court to a term of 10 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release after pleading guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a ward late last year. U.S. Attorney John Durham said that Sanchez, 33, a former correctional officer at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury engaged in sexual activity with a female inmate at the prison.
