Hudson Valley Man Known As 'Free Spirit, Avid Athlete' Dies At Age 44
A Westchester County resident known for his love of sports and adventurous spirit has died at the age of 44.
John Theodore Grandefeld, of Eastchester, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept. 24, according to his obituary.
He was born in New Rochelle and spent summers in his childhood at the Larchmont Shore Club.

A beloved teacher and longtime Hudson Valley resident has died at the age of 64.
Dutchess County resident Michael Ambron, of Fishkill, died suddenly of heart failure at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie on Tuesday, July 26, according to his obituary.
Ambron grew up in the Bronx, and he graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers.
He went on to earn degrees from Manhattan College and Iona College, his obituary said.
For 25 years, he worked for IBM in East Fishkill and Southbury, Connecticut, and he served as director of programming, according to his obituary.

Putnam Resident Who Was College Athlete, Longtime Firefighter Dies At 63
A former college athlete and longtime member of a Westchester County fire department has died at the age of 63.
Joseph J. Garan III, a resident of Putnam Valley, died suddenly at home on Friday, March 11, according to his obituary.
Garan was born in Yonkers, and he participated in a number of sports growing up, such as baseball, golf, and football.
He graduated from Arlington High School and received a bachelor's degree from Iona College in New Rochelle, his obituary reads.

Police Search For Man Breaking Into College Dorms, Watching Female Students Sleep
A wanted man who allegedly snuck into students’ bedrooms at Manhattan College, sexually assaulting one, is on the loose, putting the campus on a heightened state of alert.
A female student at Manhattan College in Riverdale told authorities that she was sexually assaulted in her apartment in the Overlook Manor off-campus dorm in the Riverdale section of the Bronx in January, officials said.
