Cops In These Putnam Departments Are Among State's Highest Paid Hudson Valley police departments pay their officers some of the top salaries in upstate New York, according to a newly released study. Citing data from the New York State and Local Retirement System based on regular, overtime pay and unused vacation time, Empire Center’s 2018 “What They Make” report determined which departments are paying their cops the most. Pension contributions, health insurance, and other benefits were not factored into the data.
