Crash Shuts Down Busy Roadway In Northern Westchester A crash caused a busy main route in Northern Westchester to close as emergency crews responded to the scene.  The incident happened on Monday, March 4 at around 6:30 p.m., when a motor vehicle crash occurred on Route 9A (Saw Mill River Road) in Hawthorne near the Amazon warehouse, according to the Hawthorne Fire Department.  According to reports, a pedestrian was struck at the scene, but police have not yet confirmed the extent of the injuries.  The incident caused the road to close between Skyline Drive and Route 141 for an extended amount of time on Monday.  This is …

Blaze Destroys Car On Busy Parkway In Northern Westchester A car became completely engulfed in flames on a busy parkway in Northern Westchester.  The incident happened on Sunday, March 3 at around 10:15 a.m., when a car fire began on the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway in Hawthorne, according to the Hawthorne Fire Department. Arriving crews found the car overtaken by flames but were quickly able to extinguish them. A tow truck then eventually removed the charred wreckage.  The response to the fire took around an hour. No injuries were reported.

Fire At College Housing In Northern Westchester Displaces Students A college housing apartment in Northern Westchester was heavily damaged after a fire tore through it, adding smoke to already hazy skies caused by Canadian wildfires.  The fire happened on Wednesday, June 7, when the Valhalla and Hawthorne Fire Departments responded to a fire at an apartment at New York Medical College on Old Farm Road.  Once arriving, crews found that smoke was pouring out of the second floor of the building, and began work to extinguish the blaze.  After making their way inside the apartment, which was filled with heavy flames, firefighters were able to ab…
