The incident occurred in Dutchess County around 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17 in Beacon. Man Killed, Officer Injured In Head-On Area Crash, Police Say A 49-year-old man was killed and an officer injured during a two-vehicle head-on crash. It happened in Dutchess County shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, in Beacon. Derron E. Holmes, of Beacon, was killed in the crash involving a Subaru Outback and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. According to Det. Sgt. Jason Johnson, of the Beacon Police Department, Holmes was driving the Subaru in the area of Fishkill Avenue in Beacon, when he collided head-on with the Jeep. Water Main Break Closes Major Roadway In Area A water main break has closed a major Beacon roadway for at least the next several hours, Beacon Police said. The break at 388 Fishkill Ave., has closed the road for a long stretch from Blackburn Avenue to Prospect Street, police said around 9:45 a.m. Thursday, March 28. Water department and transportation officials are on the scene working to fix the break, police said.
