Smoke Sighting Prompts Emergency Response At Shopping Center In Somers Fire crews responded to a busy shopping center in Northern Westchester after receiving reports of smoke pouring from the building's roof. The incident happened on Wednesday, March 27 just after 7 p.m., when crews from the Somers Volunteer Fire Department responded to the Towne Centre At Somers shopping mall for reports of smoke coming from the roof.  Arriving crews soon found that they could not find any smoke or fire outside or within the building.  After searching for around 40 minutes, the department eventually deemed the reports of smoke to be "good intent."

Mahopac Falls Fire and EMS were dispatched around 3:25 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23 to a home at 72 Mexico Lane, in Mahopac, said Jack Casey, public information officer for Mahopac Falls VFD. Report Of Smoke At House In Carmel Hamlet Draws Fast Response Unexpected smoke in a Putnam County structure led to a rapid response from fire crews and area police. Shortly after noontime on Tuesday, May 19, crews from the Mahopac Fire Department were dispatched to a Wellington Drive home in Carmel Hamlet, where there was a report of smoke inside the residence. With members of the Carmel Police Department assisting at the scene, fire officials investigated the smoky situation, tracing its origin to a faulty ceiling fan. Fire Breaks Out At House Overlooking Hudson River In Cortlandt A home with an expansive view of the Hudson River was damaged by a fire that started in the chimney chase, according to the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Department. The fire started around 12:10 a.m. Thursday at the home on Forest Avenue in Cortlandt, the department said.  Upon arrival, firefighters found an active fire visible from the wood chimney chase on the exterior of the home. Area Home Damaged In Three-Alarm Fire A three-alarm fire damaged an Orange County home but was quickly extinguished with help from other volunteer agencies. The Goshen Fire Department received the call around 8:54 p.m. Wednesday at 12 West St., in the village for smoke alarms going off in the residence, the Goshen Fire Department said. Crash Seriously Injures Two, Causes Fire, Sends Vehicle Into Pond Two people were seriously injured, one with life-threatening injuries, during a two-car crash on Noxon Road near Vincent Road in the Town of LaGrange.
