Police Bust Man With Illegal Handgun In Area After Receiving Tip Police busted a man with an illegal handgun after being tipped off about a potential sale of the weapon in Westchester. At approximately 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, officers from the New Rochelle Police Department and Real-Time Crime Center at Westchester County Police Headquarters received information about a possible gun sale about to take place in the area of Pershing Square. Veteran Police Officer In Hudson Valley Dies From 9/11 Related Illness A longtime police officer in Westchester County has died as a result of a 9/11 related illness. New Rochelle Deputy Police Commissioner Robert Gazzola announced that on Thursday, Aug. 16, Police Officer Kathleen O’Connor, a 20-year veteran of the force, died following a “long and courageous battle."
