Fake ID Scam: Thousands Of Dollars Swindled From Fairfield County Resident, Police Say
A man has been charged with larceny and identity theft after allegedly using a fake ID to steal more than $20,000 from a Fairfield County resident.
Archie Longson, age 44, of New York City, was arrested by Wilton Police on Monday, March 27 on a warrant.
The victim first learned of the crime in April 2022, when they found two fraudulent transactions on their bank account for a total of $20,500; a withdrawal of $8,000 was also made at a bank in Connecticut, and a bank check in the name of Longson was purchased for the amount of $12,500, said Capt. Gregg Phillipson, of the Wilton Police.

Man Indicted For Murder Of Area Woman Whose Body Has Never Been Found
A man has been indicted for murder in connection with the death of a 36-year-old woman whose body has not been found.
Matthew Mercado, of Newburgh, was arraigned on Friday, Nov. 6, on charges including murder for the death of Jessica Lopez, a City of Newburgh woman, who was last seen on November 3, 2019, at the Windsor Motel in the Town of New Windsor, said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.

Duo Caught With 30 Pounds Of Pot In Area Traffic Stop, Police Say
Two men, one from Westchester County, were arrested and face multiple charges after police allegedly discovered approximately 30 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in Orange County.
Marlon D. Moore, 38, of the Bronx, was driving with passenger Carey R. Nelson, 39, of Mount Vernon when State Police conducted a traffic stop on I-87 in the town of Woodbury around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19.
During the interview with Moore, police established probable cause to conduct a search. Police then discovered approximately 30 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle and took both men into custody.

Woman With Fake NY ID Tries To Withdraw $170K At CT Bank, Police Say
A woman attempted to make fraudulent withdrawals totaling $170,000 using a fake identification at a Chase Bank in Greenwich, police said.
The incident occurred at around 2 .m. on Friday, June 22 at the branch at 1150 East Putnam Ave., where 23-year-old Mengyan Zhou attempted withdrawals of $150,000 and $20,000, said Lt. David Nemecek of the Greenwich Police Department.
Zhou presented investigating officers with a fraudulent New York license, attempting to depict herself as the bank account holder, police said, adding that she also lied to officers several times regarding her identity.
