Total spending in the budget is a little more than $119 million, which is a spending increase of nearly $2.7 million, or 2.32 percent.

The property tax levy, which represents the total amount of property tax revenue to support the budget, would rise to a little more than $90.2 million, or by 2.12 percent. The levy comes under a state-mandated cap on increases, according to a district announcement, which adds that the maximum amount allowed is 2.23 percent.

The budget includes more than $24 million in state aid, the district adds.

The tax-burden difference, according to district data, will mean an increase of $16.49 per month for a home that is assessed at $350,000.

The district is also asking voters to approve the creation of a capital reserve fund, which would effectively act as a savings account. The proposed fund would be allowed to hold up to $5 million and would have a 10-year lifespan.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., the district adds, with polling places at Carmel High School, Matthew Patterson Elementary School and Kent Elementary School.

Information on the budget and capital reserve proposal is available here.

Voters also will decide on two school board seats.

Board President Richard Kreps is seeking re-election while fellow incumbent James Reese is not, according to District Clerk Susan Dieck.

In addition to Kreps, candidates are Michelle Yorio, Ralph Fleischman and Ken Prejs. Information about the candidates is available here.
