Plainclothes deputies assigned to the Sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit were monitoring areas in the Town of Southeast at about 4:30 p.m.. on Tuesday, May 10 when they spotted Aboubacar Boubie Bagayoko of Manhattan Avenue in Manhattan in the car, the sheriff's office said.
As the deputies approached the car, they reportedly smelled the odor of burnt marihuana emanating from within it, the sheriff's office said.
The deputies reported they found Bagayoko in possession of three plastic bags containing a total of 300 Xanax pills. Xanax is a prescription medication typically dispensed for the treatment of anxiety and panic disorders. Bagayoko allegedly had no prescription for the drug.
Bagayoko is facing a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a Class D felony.
