MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- A house fire on 162 Lake Shore Drive in Lake Secor brought a full response from the Mahopac Falls Fire Department on Wednesday night just as the fire department was winding up its "drill night."
Both stations emptied as the first arriving unit signed off on location, confirming the house fire.
Chief Jeff Boyle set up the Command Center and directed Interior crews to the laundry area of the house. The fire had extended beyond a dryer and to an interior wall.
Interior attack crews removed the appliances from the house as secondary crews set exhaust fans in upstairs windows to remove the smoke.
EMS crew members monitored the homeowners' well being after they left the house unharmed.
Fire Police and Carmel Police units detoured traffic away from the crowded intersection and kept spectators at a safe distance.
