PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- The Taconic State Parkway has reopened after an accident resulted in the closure of a stretch of the parkway in both directions on Tuesday morning.
The closure, reported at 7 a.m., was in Putnam Valley north of Route 6.
Lanes on the northbound side, where the accident occurred, were initially closed before reopening, with motorists passing on the shoulder. The southbound lanes were then closed briefly while the accident was being investigated.
Heavy delays remain on the southbound side.
