Serino Defeats Gipson In Race For State Senate Seat In Putnam

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Sue Serino has defeated Terry Gipson in the race for the 41st Senate District.

According to unofficial results from the state Board of Elections, Serino leads Gipson 51.20 percent to 46.25 percent, 37,179 votes to 33,585 votes with all election districts reporting.

Gipson, a Democrat, was running for a second term. Serino, a Republican, is a Dutchess County legislator.

The 41st Senate District represents parts of Dutchess County and parts of Putnam County.
