Kent Library Offers Summer Lunch Program

KENT LAKES, N.Y. -- The Kent Public Library will offer free bagged lunches for children on Wednesdays, from July 6 - 27, in the library's Program Room.

Kent Library's free-lunch Wednesdays are part of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), which was established to ensure that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.

The library's free-lunch Wednesdays are part of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), which was established to ensure that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.

The program is administered nationally by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS).

SFSP is sponsored locally through the Putnam County of the Hudson Valley Regional Food Bank, which has partnered with the Cornell Cooperative Extensions, Eat Smart New York and Hudson Valley Region.

Registration is required for the children eating the lunches and the adults who bring them.

The free lunches will be offered from 1:15 - 2:15 p.m. Lunches are only for children and must be eaten at the library.

The library is at 17 Sybil's Crossing, Kent Lakes.
