Worker Killed After Truck Crash In Wilton An investigation is underway after a landscaping truck fatally struck a company employee in Fairfield County over the weekend. Police responded to the crash in Wilton at 77 Danbury Road (Route 7) at about 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, according to the Wilton Police Department. The Wilton Fire Department and Wilton EMS also responded to the scene. Authorities found that the truck had run over an employee of the landscaping company, and the employee was trapped under the truck. Horse Barn Fire Breaks Out In New Canaan No horses were injured when a two-alarm horse barn fire broke out on the land of a private residence in Fairfield County. The blaze broke out around 5 a.m., Monday, Jan. 24, in New Canaan, on Silvermine Road. When firefighters arrived on the scene they found the three-stall barn with a hayloft fully engulfed in flames,  said Assistant Fire Chief Albe Bassett, of the New Canaan Fire Department. Missing Wilton Man Found Dead A 53-year-old missing Fairfield County man has been found dead by police. Todd Davies, 53, of Wilton, who was reported missing on Wednesday, Jan. 8, was found dead on Thursday, Jan. 9, said Wilton Police Capt. Robert Cipolla. Cipolla said Davies was found dead around 10 a.m. but did not offer where he was located.  The Wilton Police Department with the assistance of the Wilton Fire Department, Wilton CERT, and neighboring law enforcement and fire agencies had been working to located Davies since he was reported missing, Cipolla said. Fire Displaces New Canaan Family A two-alarm fire left a New Canaan home with extensive damage, officials said. Fire crews were dispatched to a Strawberry Hill Road home shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, where there was a report of a fire that spread from the chimney to the surrounding walls and an attic space, Fire Marshal Fred Baker said. “The fire appears to have been caused by a breach in the chimney system, allowing hot embers to escape and ignite the structural members,” he said. Quick Work Of Firefighters Saves South Salem Home Quick action by firefighters from the Vista and South Salem fire departments saved a family's home following a basement fire. The fire started around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at 87 East St., in South Salem, according to Vista Fire Chief Jeff Peck.  Once on scene, firefighters found smoke showing from inside the home and quickly determined the fire was coming from the basement.
