Northern Westchester Man Nabbed For Hit-Run Crash, Police Say A Northern Westchester man turned himself in to police on a warrant after he allegedly hit a bicyclist earlier this year in Fairfield County and then fled the scene. Christopher Lynch, age 51, of South Salem, was arrested on Tuesday, July 13, and charged with improper passing and evading responsibility for the crash which took place on Wednesday, April 28 in New Canaan. According to New Canaan Police, Lynch was driving northbound on Smith Ridge Road when he struck the cyclist who was also traveling northbound. Man Accused Of Fleeing Scene Of Crash In Fairfield County, Police Say A Fairfield County man has been arrested following a crash in which he struck two mailboxes and two utility police before fleeing. The crash took place around 6:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, in the area of the 200 block of Smith Ridge Road (Route 123) in New Canaan. According to New Canaan PD Lieutenant Jason Ferraro, when officers arrived on the scene they found that a vehicle has gone off the road and struck two mailboxes and two utility poles, damaging all. Police Searching For Hit-Run Driver Who Struck Bicyclist In New Canaan Police are on the lookout for a driver who hit a bicyclist and then fled the scene in  Fairfield County. The incident took place around 12:511 p.m., Wednesday, April 28 when a vehicle traveling northbound on Smith Ridge Road (Route 123) in New Canaan struck a cyclist who was also traveling northbound and then left the scene of the crash, said Lt. Jason Ferraro of the New Canaan Police. Coyote Kills Puppy In New Canaan While there have been 11 bobcat sightings in New Canaan recently, its Police Department is pretty certain Friday night's fatal attack on a puppy involved a coyote. "I'm assuming it was a coyote," New Canaan Animal Control Officer Allyson Halm told Daily Voice on Tuesday, April 10. "They're very territorial and it was late at night." The small, 5-month-old puppy was killed along Smith Ridge Road, not far from a country club golf course.  "Our pets are always at risk,'' Halm said.
