Police To Conduct Random Checks At Houses Of Worship In Hudson Valley After Israel Attacks
Following terrorist attacks in Israel that have killed hundreds of Israelis and several American citizens, authorities in the Hudson Valley will be conducting random checks of religious institutions as a precaution. The "frequent and random" checks will be performed at all houses of worship in Putnam County, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced on Monday, Oct. 5. $10M Added For Security At NY Religious Centers, Schools
In the wake of the deadliest assault on the Jewish community in American history, millions of dollars are being added to help protect cultural centers in New York from hate crimes. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced this week that a $10 million grant program to protect non-public schools and religious-based institutions is accepting applications. New Canaan Home Burglarized While Family Away On Vacation, Police Say
Following a home burglary in New Canaan in which the family was away on vacation, police are asking residents to be sure and secure their residences. The burglary was discovered around 10:51 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at a home on Route 106 (Silvermine Road) when the family returned from vacation and found they had been the target of thieves, said New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski. The residence was entered through a rear sliding glass door that was removed by the burglars. A number of items were stolen during the burglary.
