High-Speed Chase Reaching 100 MPH Leads To Drug Arrest In Hudson Valley
A high-speed chase with state police which reached speeds of 100 mph ended in a crash and led to the arrest of two men who were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. The chase began in Rockland County in Ramapo around 2 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17 when troopers patrolling the Palisades Interstate Parkway in the town of Ramapo, spotted a 2021 Nissan Altima traveling north on the parkway in violation of traffic laws, said Trooper Steven Nevel. 19-Car Pileup During Height Of Storm Among Hundreds Of Crashes Reported In Region
This story has been updated. A 19-car-pileup during the height of the Nor'easter was one of numerous storm-related crashes in the region, although most motorists stayed off roadways. At least six people were injured in the multi-vehicle crash that shut down part of the Henry Hudson Parkway in upper Manhattan Wednesday, Dec. 16 during the evening hours as the snow was beginning to pile-up. Three men were arrested after taking New York State police on a chase that ended with two police vehicles being hit. The incident took place around 2:21 a.m., Saturday, June 6, when state police received information regarding a stolen 2006 GMC Envoy from New York City, which was spotted on I-84 in Orange County. A 5-year-old girl was killed during a horrific crash on Route 17 when the pickup truck she was riding in crossed the center lane and slammed into another truck, police said. Charkeilys Viera of Rochester, who was not in a child seat or seatbelt, was killed when she was ejected from the vehicle around 2:48 p.m. Monday, said Eric Chaboty, with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office. The bodies of the father and son who went missing early Saturday morning while rafting on a river in the Hudson Valley have been located and identified. At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, two juveniles were rafting under adult supervision on the Neversink River, located north of I-84 and west of Route 17 in Orange County. As the two returned to shore, an adult male saw one of the juveniles fall out of the raft and dove in to rescue him. State Thruway officials have restricted travel on major roadways throughout the area during the nor'easter. The authority put out an advisory Wednesday asking motorists to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary and have banned travel by all commercial vehicles including tractor-trailers, high-profile truck, and buses on all major highways.
