After a 74-year run, a favorite Fairfield County fine jewelry store is permanently closing.
Craig's Fine Jewelry, a Main Street staple in Ridgefield, is closing on Friday, March 29, as the owner Billy Craig retires, a sign in the window announced.
The founder, Helen Craig, purchased the business in 1950 never imagining that her small family business would be what it is today, the company website says.
Her son Norman Craig and his wife Elsie continued to grow the business, offering only the finest quality jewelry and personal service.

Fairfield County resident Jack Gordon, age 57, had last been seen in his hometown of Ridgefield on Sunday, Dec. 3 was located deceased
Gordon had left home to go hiking in the Bennetts Farm Trail System area in Ridgefield,.

Botanika Cafe, which opened around March 2022 and is located in Ridgefield at 424 Main St., only serves plant-based organic food made with vegan and gluten-free ingredients.

Ridgefield Police are searching for the person who broke into a home last week and stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, cash, and electronics, authorities said.
Officials released the photo of a vehicle (shown above) they say may be linked to the break-in on Ned's Mountain Road between Wednesday, Jan. 25, and Thursday, Jan. 26.
The driver knocked on the home's door but said he was at the wrong house when the homeowner answered.
