The rescue effort began in Putnam County around 3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 27, when members of the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to Lake Oscawana for a reported drowning near Goose Rock. Morning Fire Destroys Putnam Home A home under construction in Putnam County was destroyed when a fire broke out early on Friday, Dec. 13. Officials said that a home being built on Canopus Hollow Road went up in flames at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Friday in Putnam Valley. It is unclear what caused the fire, which fully engulfed the frame of the home. Fire Breaks Out At House In Northern Westchester A home with an expansive view of the Hudson River was damaged by a fire that started in the chimney chase, according to the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Department. The fire started around 12:10 a.m. Thursday at the home on Forest Avenue in Cortlandt, the department said.  Upon arrival, firefighters found an active fire visible from the wood chimney chase on the exterior of the home.
