Latimer’s Exit: County Executive to Deliver Farewell Before Taking Congressional Seat
As Westchester County Executive George Latimer prepares to be sworn in as a US Congressman representing New York’s 16th Congressional District, he has scheduled when he will say farewell to his current position.
Latimer, age 70, will give his farewell address on Monday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. The speech will be live-streamed on Facebook, according to county officials.
Following these remarks, Latimer’s resignation will take effect a few days later on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, at 12:01 p.m., he said during a public address in November.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer has announced his resignation as he prepares to be sworn in as a US Congressman representing New York’s 16th Congressional District.
Latimer’s resignation will take effect on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, at 12:01 p.m., he said during a public address on Monday, Nov. 25.

Weekend Ferry Service Between Northern Westchester, Rockland Off To Great Start
Months after the launch of a weekend ferry service between Westchester and Rockland counties, ridership is only going up, officials announced.
Since weekend service on the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry was started in May, ridership numbers have continued to climb each month, MTA officials announced on Wednesday, July 31.
According to the MTA, ridership in July reached an average of 455 trips a day on the weekend compared to 240 trips a day in May. Additionally, a record of 822 trips was set on Sunday, July 21, officials said.

To accommodate Metro-North crews working to replace sections of track and switches in Grand Central Station, officials have announced schedule changes for Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven line trains.

Here's When Westchester County Will Offer Free Bus Rides This Holiday Season
Westchester County will be offering free rides on the Bee-Line bus system for certain days this holiday season, county officials announced.
The decision to offer free rides comes after the county did the same in June, July, and August of 2022 when the system experienced a 37 percent increase in ridership, county officials said.
The free bus rides will be available on the following days:
