Ellen Elizabeth Hilpl, Beloved Former Pound Ridge Teacher, 67 Ellen Elizabeth Hilpl, 67, a former Pound Ridge resident and most recently of the Village of Millerton since 2017, died Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at her home in the village. Born May 26, 1955 in Port Chester, NY she was the daughter of the late John E. and Norma Dean (Lasher) Hilpl of Pound Ridge. Ellen Elizabeth was a graduate of William Patterson College, receiving a bachelor’s degree in 1979, and the College of New Rochelle, where she received  a master’s degree  in education in 1984 as well as a master’s degree in music.  For many years, Ellen Elizabeth was a beloved kin…

Planned Large Crowd Prompts Change In Pound Ridge Fireworks Celebration Due to an expected large crowd at Pound RIdge's June 30 fireworks display, the town will limit the number of non-resident parking passes to 180 this year. Passes will be issued on a first-come first-served basis at the Pound Ridge Townhouse located at 179 Westchester Ave  in Pound Ridge and will not be available after June 27 at 4:30 p.m. "Please plan accordingly as non-residents that are not accompanying residents will not be permitted to park in any locations designated for parking for this event," town officials said in a news statement. Pound Ridge Boy, 6, Dies After Battle With Brain Cancer Lucas Harashima of Pound Ridge died Wednesday surrounded by his family following a battle with  DIPG, an aggressive brain tumor DIPG, an aggressive brain tumor that has no known cause or cure. He was 6 years old. Lucas, who fought bravely for 18 months,  inspired all who knew him. The son of Sansan and Hide, Harashima, and brother to Kai, he always offered plenty of joy, smiles, and mischief.  A first-grader at Pound Ridge Elementary School, he was well-known by his friends and community for his love of sushi and Minions.
