A new COVID-19 strain has been discovered that is a combination of a pair of sub-variants of the Omicron version of the virus. Israel’s Ministry of Health announced that it has recorded multiple cases of the new strain, which combines the two sub-variants - dubbed BA.1 and BA.2 - during PCR testing of passengers arriving at the Ben Guiron airport. 19: New Testing Site To Launch In Westchester
A new COVID-19 testing site is set to open in Westchester County this week. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that a COVID-19 PCR testing site will open at SUNY Purchase beginning Friday, Jan. 7. Testing will take place at the Performing Art Center, located at 735 Anderson Hill Road in Purchase. The site will be open for testing from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments may be scheduled here.

19: Westchester County Center Reopens For Nine Days Of Free Testing
The Westchester County Center has scheduled nine upcoming days of COVID-19 PCR testing beginning this week. The free tests will be available by appointment only, with no walk-ins accepted at the White Plains center, according to an announcement from Westchester County Executive George Latimer on Monday, Dec. 27. Appointments can be three days in advance for those who are experiencing symptoms or who have been exposed to someone who tested positive, including children and infants.
