A 21-year-old man from Westchester is facing charges after being busted driving with a blood alcohol content more than double the legal limit over the weekend. Officers from the Scarsdale Police Department on patrol on Mamaroneck Road stopped White Plains resident Darwin Maldonado Jerez after he made a series of vehicle and traffic violations at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Saturday morning. A Stamford man driving an allegedly stolen vehicle while intoxicated was nearly let out of police custody in Scarsdale before the nature of his crimes became clear, officials said. Detectives are investigating a home burglary in Scarsdale that saw suspects ransack a kitchen and refrigerator before making off with thousands of dollars in jewelry. Two men from Westchester were caught red-handed in Scarsdale after burglarizing a village home. Two men were spotted by officers on Mamaroneck Road, east of Palmer Avenue on Wednesday night acting suspiciously outside a local residence, Scarsdale Police Capt. Thomas Altizio said on Thursday.
