South Salem's Werner Strobel, 88, Loved Landscaping, Golf, And Flying His Cesna Werner Alois Strobel, 88 years old of South Salem, passed  away on Wednesday June 14, 2023 in the loving presence of his wife and daughter.  A celebration of life will be held at North Salem Golf Club on July 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Anyone who would like to tell a story about Werner is more than welcome to attend.  Werner was born in Mannheim, Germany on November 30, 1934 to Joseph and Erna Strobel. He was born in Stamford on October 29, 1986, the son of Kenneth and Maureen Winters Malizia of New Canaan. He graduated from New Canaan High School in 2004 and began working for his father’s local cleaning business. Longtime New Canaan Firefighter Angelo Gesualdi Dies At 75 Angelo John Gesualdi a lifetime resident of New Canaan and longtime firefighter, died Saturday of a heart attack with his family by his side.  He was 75. Gesualdi was born on May 16, 1943, in Stamford to the late Vito and Vera Coco Gesualdi. He was a firefighter with the New Canaan Fire Department for 34 years and was ranked as a Captain of the department. During his retirement, Gesualdi loved to start his mornings with his firehouse family and greeting each day “uptown,” seeing friends and keeping up with the community. New Canaan Youth Sports Coach Killed In Massachusetts Crash A New Canaan man died after crashing his truck on Interstate 195 in Dartmouth, Mass., on Friday. Richard Carroll was killed around 3 p.m. Friday, July 20, after his 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 4-by-4 pickup truck hit the Highland Avenue overpass bridge, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office. He was the lone occupant of the vehicle. The crash is under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.
