The incident took place around 3 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, in Orange County when a series of storms with high winds moved through sending the large tree crashing into the home at 8 Carpenter Road in Chester. Fire Displaces New Canaan Family A two-alarm fire left a New Canaan home with extensive damage, officials said. Fire crews were dispatched to a Strawberry Hill Road home shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, where there was a report of a fire that spread from the chimney to the surrounding walls and an attic space, Fire Marshal Fred Baker said. “The fire appears to have been caused by a breach in the chimney system, allowing hot embers to escape and ignite the structural members,” he said.
