House Explosion: Cause Revealed For Blast That Killed Man, Woman In Hudson Valley
Days after a man and woman were killed in a house explosion in the Hudson Valley, investigators determined what caused the blast.
A “significant amount” of propane had leaked into a Brueckner Lane residence in the town of Hurley, causing a massive explosion at around noon Wednesday, March 19, New York State Police said.
The blast completely leveled the home, killing residents Ralph Brueckner, 75, and Cheryl Hathaway, 58, according to police.
Fire investigators deemed the incident “accidental in nature,” noting that the propane had built up over an extended period of time.

A two-alarm fire at a New Rochelle apartment building forced the evacuation of about 100 residents, including elderly individuals who needed assistance, on Sunday, March 16, firefighters said.
The fire broke out at 16 Locust Ave. around 4:00 p.m., sending heavy smoke and flames through the building. Firefighters rushed to evacuate residents, ensuring those with mobility issues were safely removed, the New Rochelle Fire Department said on Monday, March 17.

Father, Son Killed In Hudson Valley House Fire
A man who pushed his daughter to safety was killed, along with his son, after a house fire broke out overnight in the Hudson Valley.
The blaze began around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, July 5 in Ulster County in the Town of Shawangunk on Burnt Meadow Road.
Initial responders discovered a 9-year-old girl outside the home, who had been pushed out a window to safety by her father, later identified as Joseph J. Hull, the Ulster County Sheriff's Office said.
Hull, 50, then was reported to have remained in the residence to locate his other child, Joseph D. Hull, 7.
