Krys, a left-hander who played for the U.S. National Under-18 Team, was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks with the 45th overall pick.
The 5-foot-11, 187-pound Krys has committed to attend Boston University, where his father, Mark, played hockey before playing in the AHL for 10 years. Krys' mother played lacrosse at Boston University.
Round 1 of the draft was held Friday night in Buffalo.
