Pound Ridge resident and former teacher Lee Goldstein was elected to the Bedford school board in May in an election that had three unopposed candidates. Goldstein has two children who attend Pound Ridge Elementary School.

Incumbent board President Susan Elion Wollin of Bedford Village, board member Andrew Bracco of Mount Kisco and Goldstein were all elected.

Voters also approved the school budget by 1,769 to 624.

The 2012-13 budget totaled $122.7 million and called for a 2.7 percent increase in the tax levy, which is the total amount raised by property taxes. The budget reflected a spending increase of 3.1 percent from the previous school year.

The budget remained under the 2 percent state tax levy cap because of exemptions for employee pension contributions, changes in the tax base and capital projects.

The budget included about $1 million in capital projects, which board members said were necessary to maintain the safety of students and proper upkeep of school facilities. The budget also eliminated 55 positions, including 37 transportation workers.
