BEDFORD, N.Y. – Bedford’s Friends of Music and the Arts (FOMA) and Community Education Foundation’s silent art auction, which was postpone due to power outages caused by the October snowstorm, has been rescheduled for Dec. 6 at Fox Lane High School Commons from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The two groups are teaming up to raise money for the new Fox Lane High School Art Gallery Courtyard. The funds will allow for access to the outdoor patio, courtyard and sculpture garden where students’ creative efforts will be displayed.

The works offered at auction will range from drawings, paintings, prints, marionettes, quilts, glass, sculpture, and ceramics. 

Bedford art faculty members Jody Chadwick, Sheri Brown, Leslie Carrone, Madalyn Grano, David Llanos, Nicole Metzner, Deborah Heyman, Natalie Todd, Heather Kranz, David Licata, Lauren Lamance, Lindsay Lappin and Stephanie Poggi-Sanfelice are all contributing original artwork.

Fox Lane alumni including Dylan VanDenhoeck, Emily Hoffman, Ester Kislin, and Jeffrey Terressen have donated creations for this event as well.

Local artists and community members donating works include Marty Kramer, Dale Saltzman, William Abranowicz, Ellen Saltzman, and Helen Ji.

In addition to the silent auction for artwork, community members may also support the Fox Lane High School Gallery Courtyard by purchasing a personalized engraved brick that will line the outdoor patio walkway.

“We couldn’t be more proud of the efforts of our staff, community and alumni to help out in this effort,” said Heather Kranz, visual arts coordinator. “We hope to renovate our space into a museum quality area and outdoor courtyard that will showcase our students’ best creative efforts and will beautify the Fox Lane High School building for our community.”

Admission to the auction is free. For auction winners, tax deductible checks or cash will accepted on the evening of the event made out to “Bedford Central Schools – Courtyard.”
