The Fox Lane group, led by Roberta Warfield, has been invited to participate at the 2013 American String Teachers Association National Conference in Providence, R.I., on Feb. 17.
The conference, held annually, is designed to help string teachers, students and performers. Instructors who attend learn the latest teaching techniques and gain information to bring back to their students. Organizers hope the conference will produce long-term results for school districts, studios, universities and students for string-related topics.
The Fox Lane Sinfonetta Orchestra will perform award-winning composer William Hofeldt’s "Palmetto Suite." Holfeldt himself will conduct the orchestra. The performance is part of a demonstration for a session at the conference titled “Choosing the Right Repertoire,” which will be led by Warfield, a 25-year veteran string educator.
“She will lead the session and explain to other string educators why ["Palmetto Suite"] is appropriate for the middle school orchestra,” said Paul Tooker, the Bedford Central School District’s performing arts coordinator.
