Independence Party Endorses Pound Ridge Democratic Slate

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – The Independence Party of Westchester has endorsed the Democratic slate for the forthcoming election. Roslyn Stone-Pollock, Chair of the Pound Ridge Democratic Committee, said she believes this is the first time this has ever happened. “Their endorsement has gone to the Republicans for the last 12 election cycles to the best of my knowledge,” she said.

“This is very big news for us,” she continued, “because traditionally the local election winners are elected by a margin equal to the number of Independence voters.”

The Pound Ridge Democratic Slate comprises Alison Boak for Town Supervisor, Sherene De Palma and Dan Paschkes for Town Board, and Ira Clair for Town Justice.

The Independence Party prides itself on interviewing all candidates and endorsing those whom the party feels are the most qualified. The party’s Mission Statement states that their objectives include restoring electoral accountability, ending budget deficits, instilling professionally acceptable accounting standards, avoiding mandates, diminishing the role of campaign contributions in decision-making, and more. The Pound Ridge Democratic Party has “very strong candidates this year,” said Stone-Pollock. “Smart, articulate and well-informed. The slate is able to best support the other candidates endorsed by the Independence Party, Noam Bramson and Peter Harckham, in particular.

"This endorsement recognizes the successful rebuilding of the Pound Ridge Democratic Committee and the tireless work of so many Pound Ridge Democrats. We are honored by their vote of confidence and intend to work hard to meet every registered Independence voter in Pound Ridge.”

Correction: An earlier version of this story misstated that it was the Independence Party of Pound Ridge who endorsed the Pound Ridge Democratic slate rather than the Westchester County Independence Party.
