POUND RIDGE, N.Y. The Pound Ridge Police Department investigated three calls last week involving possible fraud and identity theft.
On Friday, Aug. 10, officers were called to a residence on Westchester Avenue, where the homeowner said someone had tried to make a fraudulent $9,000 credit card purchase. The transaction was denied, and all the residents accounts were placed on fraud alert.
On Monday, Aug. 13, police went to a residence on Fancher Road, where the homeowner told them she was contacted about making a payment on an account she never opened. Two and a half hours later, police were called to Parkview Road, where a resident told them someone had attempted to open an account in the resident's name. All their accounts were placed on fraud alert.
The following items also were reported by Pound Ridge police:
Road Blocked: On Thursday, Aug. 9, police received a report of a vehicle blocking traffic on Long Ridge Road. It was a disabled tractor-trailer, which was eventually moved to the side of the road.
Downed Branches: Police received a call Saturday, Aug. 11, about downed branches blocking traffic on Donbrook Road. Officers were able to move them to the side of the road.
Outdoor Burning: Police responded to a fire call Saturday, Aug. 11, on High Ridge Road. An odor of smoke had been reported. The Pound Ridge Fire Department was on the scene and had already extinguished an open burn.
