Driver Who Hit Guard Rail In Pound Ridge Charged With DWI, Police Say

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- New York State Police from the Somers barracks have arrested a 65-year-old man from Stamford, Conn. on a driving while intoxicated charge.

Troopers were dispatched to a one-car auto collision that occurred on High Ridge Road on Sunday, March 6, police report.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as James E. Manning Jr., was traveling northbound on High Ridge Road before exiting the roadway and striking a guide rail, according to officials.

Manning supplied a breath sample that revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.23 percent, almost three times the legal limit of intoxication; he was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, police report.

Manning was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Pound Ridge Court on Monday, March 14, according to officials.
