What's Happening Around Pound Ridge This Weekend

There’s a lot to do this weekend in the Lewisboro-Pound Ridge area, and the weather is expected to be gorgeous. Former Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart will bring his polyrhythmic sounds to the Ridgefield Playhouse, Lindsey Webster will deliver her sultry jazz-vocal stylings to Mariela’s Wine Bar, and the Wolf Conservation Center will offer some cool educational programs for all ages, just to name a few.

Friday

- Fun With Music at Pound Ridge Library, 11 a.m.

The library presents “Fun With Music” featuring Laura D’Amico in a music program for children ages 5 and under. There is no fee, but registration is required. Call the library at 914-764-5085. The library is located at 179 Westchester Ave., in Pound Ridge.

- Live Music at Mariela’s Wine Bar, 8 p.m.

Mariela’s Wine & Espresso Bar offers live music featuring Dan Swartz. Admission is free. Mariela’s is located at 71 Westchester Ave. in Pound Ridge. Call 914-764-3424 for more info.

- Wolf Conservation Center Presents Evening Howl for All Ages, 6 p.m.

Visit the wolves during their favorite hour - dusk. Learn about the mythology, biology and ecology of wolf families and discover why spring is a magical time for packs in North America. Guests will take a short sunset hike to howl with ambassador wolves Atka, Alawa and Zephyr and behold the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican wolves. Guests will be served weather-appropriate treats. Bring flashlights. Fee is $16 for adults and $13 for children. Pre-registration is required. Visit www.wolf.org for more info. Saturday

- Ridgefield Playhouse Presents The Mickey Hart Band, 8 p.m.

Mickey Hart is one of the former drummers of the Grateful Dead. As half of the percussion tandem within the band known as the Rhythm Devils, Hart and Bill Kreutzmann transcended conventions of rock drumming. Their extended polyrhythmic excursions were highlights of Grateful Dead shows, introducing the band’s audience to an ever-growing array of percussion instruments from around the world. -  Mariela’s Wine Bar Presents Lindsey Webster, 8 p.m.

Mariela’s Wine & Espresso Bar offers live music featuring Lindsey Webster. At 23 years old, Webster has shared the stage with Grammy award-winning musicians and artists. She sings on a 2012 Grammy-nominated CD with the Jimmy Sturr Orchestra and has recorded with multiple music legends. Admission is free. Mariela’s is located at 71 Westchester Ave. in Pound Ridge. - Wolf Conservation Center Presents Pack Chat for Kids, 11 a.m.

This is a great introduction to wolves for families with young children. Kids will learn about the mythology surrounding wolves and the important role of wolves in the natural world. Guests will visit ambassador wolves Atka, Alawa and Zephyr, as well as the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican gray wolves. The event is for families with children 4-8 years of age. Fee is $13 for adults and $11 for children under 12. Bring a camera. Pre-registration is required. Visit www.nywolf.org for info. The Center is located at 7 Buck Run in South Salem.

The Center will also hold an Evening Howl for adults 21 and over only, at 6 p.m. Registration is required – visit the website. The fee is $20

Sunday

- "Civil War Letters" Performance at Lewisboro Library, 4 p.m.

As part of its ongoing commemoration of the 150 th anniversary of the Civil War, the Lewisboro Library presents "Civil War Letters." Local thespians will read and recreate scenes from actual Civil War letters that are part of Lewisboro's history collection. - Live Music at North Star, 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Dennis Collins and Mike DiMeo will perform at the North Star restaurant in Pound Ridge. Collins, who is accompanied on piano by DiMeo, has recorded with stars such as Roberta Flack, Sting, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Sheryl Crow and Faith Hill. All Weekend

- “Color of Light” Art Exhibit at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, 9 a.m.- 4p.m.

This exhibition by White Plains artist and teacher and Susan Stillman features paintings that reflect Stillman's fascination with the transformative effect of light and color on ordinary scenes. The Color of Light” will be on view daily through June 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Gallery in the Park. Admission is free; parking is $5 with a permit, $10 without one.
