Two Drivers Face Misdemeanor Charges in Pound Ridge

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Pound Ridge police arrested two Connecticut motorists this past week and charged them with misdemeanor driving infractions.

On March 22, police stopped a vehicle on Pound Ridge Road for allegedly traveling 49 mph in a 30 mph zone. A subsequent check revealed the driver, Mark O’Neil, 53, of Bethel, Conn., had his driving privileges in New York suspended, police said. He was charged with unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, a misdemeanor. He also received a speeding ticket. He was released on $100 bail and is due back in court April 2.

Police also stopped a motorist on Salem Road Saturday for allegedly going 60 mph in a 40 mph zone. A check showed the driving privileges of Ryan Cifuffo, 30, of Danbury, Conn., had been suspended in New York, police said. He was charged with unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, a misdemeanor. He also was issued a traffic summons for speeding. He was released on $200 bail and is due back in court April 16.

The following items also were reported by the Pound Ridge Police Department:

Possible Drunk Driver: On Friday, police dispatched a “be on the look out for” a green truck on Hack Green Road driven by a white male who possibly was intoxicated. Police canvassed the area but were on able to locate the vehicle.

Seat Belt Ticket: Police issued a ticket Friday to a motorist on Salem Road for driving without a seat belt.

Car Accident: Police were called to High Ridge Road for a one-car accident Friday. The car was towed but no injuries were reported.

Noise Complaints: Police investigated several noise complaints Sunday. Officers were called to Kinnicut Road at 11:40 a.m. on the report of a chainsaw being used, but were unable to locate it. Ten minutes later, they were called to Bender Way on a wood chipper complaint. Officers spoke to the owner who was not aware of the noise ordinance. He was given a warning and stopped working. At 4 p.m., police were called to Lyndel Road on the report of heavy equipment being used. Officers spoke to the subject and explained the town code regarding construction work.

Speeding Ticket: On Monday, police issued a summons to a motorist on Westchester Avenue for allegedly traveling 53 mph in a 30 mph zone.
