POUND RIDGE, N.Y. Pound Ridge police arrested two men this week, charging both with first-offense driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.
The first arrest took place on Sunday. During a routine traffic stop on High Ridge Road at around 1:10 p.m., police detected a strong odor of alcohol on the driver, who failed field-sobriety tests but refused to take a pre-screen breath test.
Police then arrested the driver, Kevin P. Robinson, 52, of Stamford, Conn., and charged him with DWI. Besides the misdemeanor DWI charge, Robinson was also issued summonses for refusal to take a breath test, operating a motor vehicle with alcohol in the blood, and driving left of the pavement markings. He was released on $200 bail and is due back in court on June 25.
On Monday, at approximately 7:55 p.m., police pulled over a motorist on Westchester Avenue on a routine traffic stop. During the interview, officers detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was asked to perform a field-sobriety test, which police say he failed.
Police then arrested Robert Herbert, 57, of North Salem, and charged him with aggravated DWI (first offense). He was also issued summonses for operating a motor vehicle with alcohol in the blood, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle, and driving without a seat belt. He was released on $200 bail and is due back in court on June 11.
The follow items also were reported by the Pound Ridge police:
- On May 23, police received a report of a possible rabid raccoon on Autumn Ridge Road. Police patrolled the area, but the animal was gone before they arrived.
- On Saturday, police received a report of a missing stop sign on High Ridge Road. Officers found the missing sign and replaced it, but advised the Department of Transportation to make it more secure.
- Police were called to Eastwoods Road on Saturday around 2:20 p.m. for a brush fire. The Pound Ridge Fire Department was already on the scene and the fire was extinguished.
