Pound Ridge Police Make 2 Marijuana Arrests

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Pound Ridge police arrested and charged two men with marijuana possession in separate incidences this week.

During a routine traffic stop on Long Ridge Road on Wednesday, March 8, police said they detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Police arrested a Bridgeport, Conn. man and charged him with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and issued him a speeding ticket for traveling 59 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone.

He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to return to court on April 2. 

On Saturday, while an officer was checking on a vehicle parked along Westchester Avenue, police say they detected the odor of burnt marijuana. When the driver was advised he was under arrest, police say he resisted.

Police charged Thomas E. Alpi, 19, of Patterson, N.Y., with resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration in the second-degree, both misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. He was released on his own recognizance and is slated to return to court on April 2.

In other police blotter news:

Neighbor Dispute: Police were called to Cross Pond Road on Wednesday, March 7, for a verbal dispute between a neighbor and a tree contractor. The situation was resolved.

Criminal Warrant: On Friday, March 9, police issued a criminal warrant to a resident on Westchester Avenue for failure to appear in court. The subject is now due back in court on March 19.

Larceny Complaint: Police were called to Pettit Lane on Friday, March 9, for a report that rocks had been taken from a stone wall. The case is under investigation.

Car Accident: Police were called to Lower Shad Road last Saturday for a one-car auto accident. The driver was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital Center with minor injuries.

Traffic Tickets: A motorist on Westchester Avenue was issued two tickets on Saturday – one for going 49 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone and the other for an unregistered vehicle.

Missing Hiker: Police received a report of a missing hiker on Reservation Road on Sunday. With the assistance of the park ranger and county police, the hiker was located and was safe. No injuries were reported.

Deer-Car Accident: Police were called to Route 137 for a deer-car collision on Sunday. There were no injuries reported.
