POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – A Pound Ridge resident was the target of a phone scam last week, but caught on to the plot before any money exchanged hands.

Pound Ridge police responded to call from a resident on Pound Ridge Road who told them she had received a call from a person claiming to be her grandson. The caller told her he had been arrested and need money wired to him for damages that occurred.

A second phone call was then received from a person calling themselves “Ari” and claiming to be the grandson’s lawyer. The intended victim realized it was a scam and refused to cooperate.

In other police blotter news:

Nov. 10

Police responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle on Apple Tree Lane. Police located the vehicle, which turned out to be a contractor working for NYSEG.

Nov. 11

Police were called to Westchester Avenue for a car/deer accident. There were no injuries and no tow was needed, but the deer was killed. It was removed from the roadway.

Nov. 12

Pound Ridge police stopped a car for speeding along Long Ridge Road and contacted State Police to conduct a field sobriety test. The case was turned over to the State Police and no further information was forthcoming.

 Nov. 13

Police responded to a harassment complaint on Old Stone Hill Road, which turned out to be a dispute between a husband and wife. No further information was forthcoming.

Police received a report of a rabid raccoon on Long Ridge Road. Officers located the animal and dispatched it.

Police responded to a one-car accident on High Ridge Road. The motorist struck a tree branch but no injuries were reported and no tow was needed.
