Pound Ridge Police Charge Bedford Man with DWI

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Pound Ridge police charged a Bedford man on Sunday with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated.

Police made a routine traffic stop on Long Ridge Road at 6:30 p.m. and said that when they interviewed the driver, Thomas Kennedy Jr., 32, of Bedford, they detected an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Police conducted field sobriety tests, which they say Kennedy failed, and he was placed under arrest and charged with one count of misdemeanor DWI.

Kennedy was released on $200 bail.

Pound Ridge police also reported the following items:

Speeding on Westchester Avenue: Police issued speeding tickets to two motorists driving on Westchester Avenue on Wednesday, March 28, one for traveling 54 mph in a 30 mph zone, the other for going 57 mph. Two more motorists were cited for the same offense on Thursday, March 29, one for driving 51 mph in the 30 mph zone and the other for going 50 mph.

Unlicensed Operator Arrests: In separate incidents last Friday on Westchester Avenue, police arrested two men and charged them with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle (AUO) in the third degree – a misdemeanor.

At 10:38 a.m., police pulled over a car for speeding, and a subsequent DMV check revealed the driver’s license had been revoked. Police arrested Jeremy Barnat, 29, of Pound Ridge and charged him with AUO. He was also issued a ticket for going 50 mph in a 30 mph zone. He was released on $100 bail and is due back in court April 16.

At 5:30 p.m., police pulled over a car with a broken windshield. The DMV check revealed that Francisco Rivera Jr.’s license was revoked. Rivera, 25, of Stamford, Conn., was charged with AUO and ticketed for the broken windshield. He was released on $200 bail and is due back in court April 16.

Suspicious Vehicle: Police were called to Siscowit Road last Friday on a report of a suspicious vehicle. Police discovered an Optimum Cable truck working on the cable lines and reported no problems.

Two-Car Accident: On Saturday, police responded to Long Ridge Road on a report of a two-car accident. One car was towed, but no injuries were reported.

Suspicious Incident: Police were called to a home on Kitchawan Road on a report of a suspicious incident in which the homeowner believed someone might have been in the house. Police checked the home but found nothing unusual and reported no further problems.
