Pound Ridge PD Charge Man With Unlicensed Operation of Vehicle

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Pound Ridge police charged a Danbury, Conn. man who they say was driving with a suspended Connecticut licenses for a DWI conviction in New York.

According to police, officers were conducting a road check on Westchester Avenue when they observed a red pick-up truck with a broken front windshield. Police identified the driver as Jose Soto, 36, of Danbury by his suspended license. He was arrested and released on $240 bail.

Soto was issued tickets for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree, operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver, and operating a motor vehicle with broken glass, police said.

Police reports said that a search of the vehicle also revealed that Soto did not have a driver’s interlock device, which was issued after his DWI arrest. He was given an additional ticket during his court appearance for circumventing the interlock – subject to court order – and operating the vehicle without the device.

Soto is due back in court on Oct. 31.

OCT. 18Police were called to Fancher Road on a report of illegal dumping. The area was checked and no dumping was found, police said.

Police responded to a fire call on Upper Shad Road, to which they said they found a tree and wires burning along with a large tree stump. The fire was extinguished by the Pound Ridge Fire Department.

A motorist on Westchester Avenue was issued a ticket for travelling 49 mph in a 30 mph zone.

OCT. 19Police were called to Long Ridge Road on the report of a tree limb down and blocking the road. The limb was moved to the side of the road and the county department of transportation was called to remove it.

OCT. 21Police investigated a simple assault incident on Autumn Ridge Road. The incident is still under investigation and no further information is being released at this time, police said.

OCT. 22Police were called to Stone Hill Road for a two-car accident. No injuries were reported and no towing was needed.

While patrolling on Westchester Avenue, officers notice a vehicle drive over the center line twice and stopped the car.  The driver was ticketed for being an unlicensed driver and driving across the hazard markings. The car’s owner was given a ticket for permitting an unlicensed driver to operate the vehicle.

OCT. 23Police responded to Eastwoods Roads on the report of a suspicious vehicle. The area was checked and the resident was advised to report any future unusual activity.
