POUND RIDGE – The Pound Ridge Partnership, the group that organized June’s successful Pound Ridge Pride Day, would like to hold a Harvest Fest in the Scotts Corner business district this October.

The group made the proposal before the town board at last week’s meeting.

The event would include activities for kids, such as apple bobbing, scarecrow making, pumpkin painting and window painting.

“They would ask the business owner’s to paint their windows,” said Town Clerk Joanne Pace. “We used to do something like that in Scarsdale. The kids would paint the businesses’ windows with a Halloween theme.”

Local wineries and breweries would also be on hand to give the festival a more “Oktoberfest-like” feel.

“The town is not involved in this,” Pace pointed out. “But [the Pound Ridge Partnership] would need to get a temporary liquor license in order to do that (serve wine and beer).”

The festival would also feature area food vendors, which means the group would have to seek approval from the health department.

Pace said a special event permit would also be required, so the town board will have to hold a public hearing on the matter. The hearing is slated for the board’s next meeting Aug. 8.

The Pound Ridge Partnership would like to hold the festival Oct. 15 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. along Westchester Avenue.
