Pound Ridge Cops Charge Local Man With Felony DWI

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Police arrested a Pound Ridge man Sunday, and charged him with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation, both felonies.

Alcides Gonzalez, 55, was seen by police allegedly driving erratically on Pound Ridge Road. After pulling the vehicle over, officers said they tried to administer field sobriety tests, which Gonzalez refused to take. Police then administered a breath screening test, which they said Gonzalez failed and he was taken into custody.

A check on Gonzalez’s driving history revealed a prior conviction for DWI in 2009, which prompted the felony charge. The check also revealed that Gonzalez’s driving privileges had been revoked by the Department of Motor Vehicles based on the previous DWI.

Gonzalez was initially arraigned before Pound Ridge Town Justice Regina Kelly and bail was set at $10,000. He returned to court the following morning with an attorney and he was remanded on the reduced bail of $2,500. He is scheduled to return to court on August 8.
